Conservation Days


Herring Island contains indigenous vegetation, and forms an important link in the linear parkland proposed for the lower reaches of the Yarra River. It provides important habitat for native fauna, particularly birds. Herring Island also provides opportunities for nature study, passive recreation and adventure play.

The Friends of Herring Island are working with Parks Victoria to restore the Island. The Friends have maintenance days on the first Sunday of each month, weeding. and planting native shrubs and grasses on the Island. Come along and help transform Herring Island. All volunteers welcome
